Stories
Better Business Bureau
Past President Tammy Oxley introduced Ryan Smith from the Better Business Bureau as the Program.  Ryan is the Director of Communication and Marketing for BBB.  The BBB Serves consumers by helping find reliable companies, provide free and objective mediation of disputes, and identifying and applauding high performers.  The Businesses with Integrity Award is a way to recognizes businesses who demonstrate superior ethics, reliability and trustworthiness.  BBB also recognizes Students of Integrity and present them with $2,500 Scholarships to accredited school/college of their choice. Give.org is BBB’s charitable alliance.  BBB accredited charities spend no more than 35% of funds on administrative costs.  In November 2014, Rotary Foundation became an accredited charity by BBB.
Burgie's Coffe
Rotarian Liz Hertz introduced Steve and Andrew Burgason of Burgie’s Coffee as the program. Burgie’s opened in North Grand Mall 22 years ago. Burgie’s now has two retail locations. Burgie’s South is located in the Southgate Express in front of Lowes and the other is located in Mary Greely Medical Center.  Burgie’s also has a roasting lab and training facility in West Ames. Coffee is the number one beverage in the USA and world.  Coffee is currently one of the fastest growing industries.  In the early 1970’s coffee changed from the traditional style to stores such as Starbucks and Peet’s Coffee.  In the 80’s and 90’s new coffees and roasting styles were invented.  Specialty coffees and blends were part of the third wave of coffee in 1995.  Rotarians ended the program by sampling an Ethiopian blend of coffee.

Four Way Test of the things we
think, say or do
 1. Is it the truth?
 2. Is it fair to all concerned?
 3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
 4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
